We collect the following types of information about you:
Registration and Profile Information. When you create an account, we may collect your personal information such as your username, first and last name, birth date, email address, mobile phone number, location, similar information for your child (the student), and a photo. If you sign up for a premium service we may ask for payment information, but we use a third party payment processor and do not store this information. We may collect additional information from a parent in order to obtain verifiable parental consent to allow a child to use our Service.
Data collected through use of the Service. After you setup your account, we may ask for other profile and demographic information, such as personal emergency instructions and information, emergency contacts, the level of access to your information different parties may have, and your location. We strive to only collect information meant to facilitate the provision of our Service.
Geolocation. We collect your unique user identifier and your location through GPS, WiFi, or wireless network triangulation in order to obtain your location for the purposes of providing our Service. You may control certain location sharing settings to govern with whom you share your location, however, while you are logged in to your account, we will continue to collect your location information in order to provide the Service (for example, to provide our emergency services or to share your location with the circles you allow to see your location). We maintain a location history for a short period of time depending on your settings. Our premium service allows you to maintain location histories for longer periods of time.
Messages and User Content. We collect information when you message other members of your group through use of the service. We may also retain any messages you send to us.
We use this information to operate, maintain, and provide to you the features and functionality of the Service and to communicate directly with you, such as to send you alerts for inclement weather, when one of your group members reports an emergency or a need for assistance, etc. We may also send you Service-related emails (e.g., account verification, parental consent notification, order confirmations, change or updates to features of the Service, technical and security notices). You may not opt-out of Service-related e-mails.
Social Media. When you interact with our site through various social media, such as when you Like us on Facebook or post a comment to our Facebook page, we may receive information from the social network such as your profile information, profile picture, gender, user name, user ID associated with your social media account, age range, language, country, friends list, and any other information you permit the social network to share with third parties. The data we receive is dependent upon your privacy settings with the social network. You should always review, and if necessary, adjust your privacy settings on third-party websites and services before linking or connecting them to Chalksphere’s website, mobile app, or Service.
Information gathered through these automated means may be associated with the personal information you previously submitted on the Service.
In General we may use information that we collect about you to: deliver and improve our products and services, and manage our business; manage your account and provide you with customer support; perform research and analysis about your use of, or interest in, our or others’ products, services, or content; communicate with you by email, postal mail, telephone and/or mobile devices about products or services that may be of interest to you either from us or other third parties; enforce or exercise any rights in our Terms of Service; send you Push notifications; and perform functions or services as otherwise described to you at the time of collection.
In all circumstances, we may perform these functions directly or use a third party vendor to perform these functions on our behalf who will be obligated to use your personal information only to perform services for us. Your data may also be used for legal purposes by Chalksphere, in court or in stages leading to possible legal action arising from improper use of the Service or related services. Personal Information: We will not rent or sell your personal information to third parties outside Chalksphere and its controlled subsidiaries and affiliates without your consent, except as noted below:
We do not share, sell, rent or trade information collected through the Service with third parties for their promotional purposes.
We may aggregate or otherwise strip data of all personally identifying characteristics of our data and may share that aggregated, anonymized data with third parties.
We take security measures to help safeguard your personal information from unauthorized access and disclosure. However, no system can be completely secure. Therefore, although we take steps to secure your information, we do not promise, and you should not expect, that your personal information, chats, or other communications will always remain secure. Users should also take care with how they handle and disclose their personal information and should avoid sending personal information through insecure email. You can choose not to provide us with certain information, but that may result in you being unable to use certain features of our Service because such information may be required in order for you to register as user or otherwise access all or some of our Service.
Our Service may also deliver notifications to your desktop, phone, or mobile device. You can disable these notifications by going into “Settings” on the app or by changing the settings on your mobile device.
You can also control information collected by cookies. You can delete or decline cookies by changing your browser settings. Click “help” in the toolbar of most browsers for instructions.
Modifying Your Account Information and Settings: You may modify your account information, update or amend your personal information, or change your password at any time by logging in to your account and accessing the “My Profile” section. You can also stop receiving promotional email communications from us by clicking on the “unsubscribe link” provided in such communications. We make every effort to promptly process all unsubscribe requests. As noted above, you may not opt out of Service-related communications (e.g., account verification, parental consent notification, order confirmations, change or updates to features of the Service, technical and security notices). Delete Your Account and Personal Information: We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you wish to cancel your account, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Opting Out of Collection of Tracking Data: The only way to completely “opt out” of the collection of any information through cookies or other tracking technology is to actively manage the settings on your browser. Please refer to your browser’s technical information for instructions on how to delete and disable cookies, and other tracking/recording tools. (To learn more about cookies, clear gifs/web beacons and related technologies, you may wish to visit the Network Advertising Initiative’s online resources, at http://www.networkadvertising.org.) Depending on your mobile device, you may not be able to control tracking technologies through browser settings but you can uninstall the app if you no longer wish to participate in our Service.
The Service is intended to be used by children under 13 only with significant parental involvement and approval. However our Service does allow parents and other members of a group to keep track of the location of children the children's’ parents have added onto an account. If you believe that we might have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13 without parental consent, please contact us at email@example.com.
